    Crochet dog patterns have always been some of my favorite projects because they combine adorable details with quick, satisfying stitching. I’m so excited to share one of my own free puppy patterns that has become a favorite gift for friends, kids, and fellow dog lovers. According to The Spruce Crafts,This little floppy-eared pup works up in just a few evenings and uses simple stitches, making it perfect if you’re new to amigurumi. Grab your supplies and let’s dive in! Before you know it, you’ll have a cuddly handmade puppy that’s full of personality and ready for plenty of hugs.


    • Worsted weight cotton yarn, approximately 120g in light brown
    • Worsted weight cotton yarn, approximately 30g in cream
    • Small amount of black cotton yarn for nose and mouth
    • Small amount of pink embroidery floss for optional tongue
    • 3.5 mm (E/4) crochet hook
    • 10 mm black safety eyes (2)
    • Polyester fiberfill stuffing, approximately 80g
    • Yarn needle for sewing pieces together
    • Stitch markers
    • Small embroidery scissors
    • Row counter (optional)
    • Pins for positioning ears and legs before sewing

    • MR – Magic Ring
    • ch – Chain
    • sc – Single Crochet
    • inc – Increase (2 sc in one stitch)
    • dec – Invisible decrease
    • sl st – Slip Stitch
    • FO – Fasten Off
    • BLO – Back Loop Only
    • FLO – Front Loop Only

    This part creates your puppy’s round, expressive head.

    1. Using light brown yarn, make a MR with 6 sc. [6 sts]
    2. Rnd 2: Inc in each stitch around. [12 sts]
    3. Rnd 3: (sc, inc) repeat around. [18 sts]
    4. Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around. [24 sts]
    5. Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat around. [30 sts]
    6. Rnds 6-10: Sc evenly around. [30 sts each]
    7. Insert the 10 mm safety eyes between Rnds 7 and 8 with 8 stitches between them.
    8. Rnd 11: (3 sc, dec) repeat around. [24 sts]
    9. Begin stuffing firmly.
    10. Rnd 12: (2 sc, dec) repeat around. [18 sts]
    11. Rnd 13: (sc, dec) repeat around. [12 sts]
    12. Finish stuffing.
    13. Rnd 14: Dec around. [6 sts]
    14. FO and weave closed.

    2. Make the Snout — crochet

    4. Crochet the Legs, Tail, and Ears

    These pieces bring your puppy to life.

    Front Legs (Make 2)

    1. MR with 6 sc.
    2. Rnds 2-8: Sc around. [6 sts]

    4. Flatten and crochet closed with 3 sc.
    5. FO.

    Ears (Make 2)

    1. MR with 6 sc.
    2. Rnd 2: (sc, inc) repeat. [9 sts]
    3. Rnds 3-8: Sc around.
    4. Flatten without stuffing.
    5. FO leaving a long sewing tail.

    5. Assemble and Finish

    This final stage transforms all the pieces into your finished puppy.

    1. Sew the snout centered between the eyes.
    2. Finish stuffing the snout if needed before closing the seam.
    3. Attach the head securely to the body.
    4. Sew the front legs evenly on each side of the body.
    5. Attach the back legs slightly lower so the puppy can sit.
    6. Sew the ears to the top sides of the head, allowing them to flop naturally.
    7. Attach the tail centered on the back.
    8. Embroider tiny eyebrows if you’d like extra personality.
